Hardee's Summer Shootout - week 8 08/03/04

Bill has drawn a 76, 197, 221, 222, 224, 206. 34, and tonight "173"

Bill started outside 4th row or 8th in the qualifying heat race. He finished 4th, placing him on the pole for the feature. This is due to an inversion based on handicapping. Bill was on the hot seat tonight and George "Cotton" Spry, one of the true greats of Legends Racing, took the opportunity to repay a rival debt and pushed Bill down the straight-away, and wide in the first turn taking the lead right away from Bill. And "it" started.  The race was "on" as the leaders (Cotton Spry, Van Wingerden, Sossman, and Weimer) "freight trained" Bill, costing him 5 positions. Once he gathered it up,  he started methodically passing Sossman, Weimer, and Van Wingerden to regain 2nd position.  This competitive racing continued throughout the event with many position changes and very close racing.  Clay Hair was the winner, followed by Johnny Sossman, then Bill.  Jan Ingram and Tom Van Wingerden finished out the top 5.  Bill tested new lines tonight and was one of the fastest cars on the track.  Good run Bill! Great job to Nick Pistone Racing. We have 2 more races to go. Link to Race Results  - courtesy 600Racing.com requires Adobe Reader
